Teacher Training Program and Pedagogical Coaching

Better teachers, better education.This program looks to contribute in the upgrade the teachers’ technical knowledge, specifically in the public educational centers located at the South of Guatemala. The objective, is developing the teachers’ skills, abilities, didactic and planning knowledge so that they can have a positive impact on the learning process and formation of their students.
The program began in 1990 with the endorsement of the Ministry of Education of Guatemala and since then, it has been developed with the academic support of Universidad del Valle de Guatemala (UVG).
The program is focused on the areas of Communication & Language, and Mathematics; and it was created according to the National Base Curriculum. It has reached a coverage of the 1,400 official schools in the departments of Escuintla,
Santa Rosa, Suchitepéquez and Retalhuleu, which corresponds to 100 % of primary and pre-primary schools in the region.
