We are the social arm of the sugar mills, we are the Sugar Foundation -Fundazucar-.

Fundazúcar was created in 1990 by the Sugar Association of Guatemala, with the aim of contributing to the development and welfare of the country. We promote a social investment model based on self-management, autonomy and self-esteem as development mechanisms.

We work in human capital formation, with a focus on comprehensive development, as we believe that each individual has the capacity and potential to achieve self-development.

We share and enhance basic knowledge through our programs, empowering people and fostering a change in behavior, which is later reflected in greater autonomy and the making of assertive decisions that improve the quality of life of people in the communities where we implement programs.

Over the years, experience has taught us that better results are achieved by focusing on the roots of the problems and not their effects, so each program is designed with a logical framework methodology, to train key actors to promote the development of their community and allow sustainability by continuously seeking solutions in the short, medium and long term.

We promote responsible citizenship among key stakeholders. We work with youngsters, women, teachers, public health officials and local authorities.

FUNDAZUCAR’s strategy is fully based on what the national public policies dictate; and all programs and projects are aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals, promoted by the United Nations Organization -United Nations.
